23 Resources to Help you Make money online

Make Money

As promised in my last post, here’s some links to get you going as a freelance designer and hopefully earn some extra cash, please do read the relevant post if you have not done so already.

Software

Photoshop - An excellent piece of kit for beginners and professionals alike to create stunning graphics, available at most online software retailers and shops.  Can be expensive but is really recommended.

Paint Shop Pro - Again suitable for beginners and experienced designers.  Available online and in stores.

GIMP - Free and open source.  A great free substitute to the two above.  Available for instant download.

Tutorials

Tutorialized - Literally thousands of tutorials and how-to resources to brush up on your design skills, highly recommended.

Good-Tutorials - Browse and search thousands of design tutorials.

PSD Tuts - An excellent resource for Photoshop designers.

Paint Shop Pro Tutorials - As the title says.

GIMP Tutorials - A wide variety of tutorials for GIMP users.

Finding Clients

Elance - Designers can bid for projects, some can be very well paid here.

Scriptlance - Another bidding site, not as well paid as Elance, but fees are much lower and work is in abundance.

Get a Freelancer - Very similar to Scriptlance

Digital Point Forums - A massive forum with many jobs available, here you can open up your own threads to promote your services.

Rent-a-Coder - Bid for coding, design and programming work.

Your own Website - Serious designers are encouraged to create their own website for a web presence and get the word out there, make sure you have a portfolio section to showcase your skills.

People Per Hour - Bid on projects per fixed fee or for an hourly rate, designed for UK freelancers, jobs are easily searchable and has some nice features, although sometimes a large fee will be applicable.

Craigslist - Brows by city or country and find some design work on this massive classifieds listing website, some real gems can be found here.

Getting Paid

Paypal - Arguably the most widely used online payment merchant out there, send recieve and upload money to your account in an instant, small fees will be included.

MoneyBookers - Again, widely used and easy to set-up.

Google Checkout - Increasing in popularity from a huge name in the online world.

Other Useful Resources

Google Calendar - Manage your time online.

Thunderbird - Free email client to check your messages quickly from your desktop.  Reliable and created by the same people who brought Firefox to the world.

Kontact - A free program which allows you to check your diary, schedule, calendar, emails and create to-do lists in one simple environment

Invoice Template - A handy template for Excel which allows you to create bills for your clients.

    There are a ton of great sites you can make some extra money with… I have a few sites that i use every day and it adds up.. You won’t get rich but you could make a nice chunk of cash at the end of each week.. There are too many to list here but check out this site.. http://bestgptmoney.blogspot.com/. They have them all listed there with a description telling you what you could expect from them..
